Homemade Peanut Butter Recipe

Peanut butter is a beloved staple in many households, known for its creamy texture and rich flavor. Making your own peanut butter at home is not only easy but also allows you to control the ingredients, ensuring a healthier and more delicious spread and we love that at Nutterie. This simple recipe requires just a few ingredients and can be customized to your taste. Let's get started!

Ingredients:
- 2 cups of Nutterie's organic toasted peanuts
- 1-2 tablespoons of honey or sugar (optional, for sweetness)
- 1-2 tablespoons of oil (peanut oil or vegetable oil)
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt (optional)

Equipment:
- Food processor or high-powered blender
- Airtight container for storage

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Peanuts:
- Use Nutterie's roasted peanuts - if your peanuts are not already roasted, spread them on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let them cool completely before proceeding.

2. Blend the Peanuts:
- Place the roasted peanuts in the food processor or blender. Pulse a few times to break them down.

3. Process Until Smooth:
- Turn the processor or blender on and let it run continuously. The peanuts will go through several stages: crumbly, dough-like, and finally, smooth and creamy. This can take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes, depending on your machine. Be patient and scrape down the sides as needed.

4. Add Sweetener and Oil:
- If you prefer your peanut butter a bit sweet, add honey or sugar to taste. Add the oil gradually while the processor is running until the peanut butter reaches your desired consistency.

5. Season to Taste:
- Add salt if desired and process for another 30 seconds to ensure it is evenly mixed.

6. Store Your Peanut Butter:
- Transfer the peanut butter to an airtight container. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.

Tips:
- For crunchy peanut butter, reserve 1/4 cup of peanuts. Chop them coarsely and stir them into the smooth peanut butter after processing.
- Experiment with different types of nuts or mix-ins like chocolate chips or spices for a unique flavor twist.

Enjoy your homemade Nutterie peanut butter on toast, in sandwiches, or as a dip for fruits and veggies! 😍
