Instructions
- Preheat Oven & Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the almond flour, baking soda, and salt, ensuring there are no lumps.
-
Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, coconut sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
-
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a cohesive dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Shape the Cookies: Take a small amount of dough and roll it into a ball. Place it on the prepared baking sheet and gently press down to flatten slightly. Use your fingers or the back of a spoon to shape the dough into hearts. Alternatively, roll out the dough and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter for more uniform shapes.
- Add Optional Toppings: If using, gently press sliced almonds or crushed nuts (we recommend walnuts or pecans) onto the top of each cookie for added texture and flavour.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges begin to turn golden brown.
- Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. They will firm up as they cool.
-
Serve or Gift: Once cooled, serve these heartfelt cookies with love. For a special Valentine's Day touch, package them in a decorative box or bag with a personalized note.
